Duration of Commitment
Front of House (Ticket Sales / Ushers / Contact with Patrons)
Set up seating/ seat numbers for show on Saturday prior to opening performance;Correlate tickets with seats/ patrons;Sell programmes; sell raffle tickets; ensure safety is maintained in the hall during each performance. Instructions/ rota agreed with Front of House Manager
Three meetings from January – Mar + 2/3 nights during the performance week to ensure continuity of service to patrons.
Back Stage / Rehearsal Supervision
Assist organisation of students safely during final rehearsals/ nightly performances back stage. Instructions agreed with Student Safety Officer/ Liaison Person. Rotas agreed with Front of House Manager.
Attendance necessary during dress rehearsals & including the performance week – at least 2/3 sessions per week to ensure continuity/ familiarity for students
COSTUMES (Organisation)
Source/ organise costumes for each student in the production as suggested by Producer/ Director within budget; label/ maintain costumes for ease of distribution/ collection during performance week
Organise washing/ ironing/ labelling and sorting costumes following the final performance
(MOST DEMANDING SECTION)
3-4 days per week from December + Four nights of performance week
(Max. 8 persons)
COSTUMES (Repair)
Costumes which require reshaping/ maintenance for current show/ zips/ buttons etc – WORK CAN BE DONE AT HOME; Instructions from costume team/ director
Assist with washing/ ironing/ sorting following musical.
Demands depends on musical production chosen, level of repairs necessary; can be done at home at your convenience/ to meet costume team’s objectives
IN-HOUSE FOOD / BEVERAGE PROVISION / SALES
*Provide light meal during dress rehearsals for orchestra and parents/ teachers working on the musical; opening/ closing night reception; organize closing night party for students.
Provide rolls for sale in tuck shop, if required as part of financial initiatives.
Instructions/ rota agreed with front of house manager/ project manager; budgetary constraints are in operation
**Source, purchase and run tuck shop in conjunction with musical project manager for large rehearsals/ week of the performance. Financial targets established initially. Organise snacks for students during nightly performance/ drinks for disco; Instructions/ rota agreed with front of house manager/ project manager
4-5 meetings in advance +
Contribute to rota for / rehearsals/ performance nights that PROVISION/ SALES are required.
MAKE-UP/ HAIR (Leads)
Choose suitable make-up styles in conjunction with director; purchase/ organise make-up for full cast for dress rehearsals/ performance nights
Instructions/ rota agreed with Make-Up/ Hair Co-ordinators
Late January – meeting to discuss needs; practice runs Feb/ March – demand depends on musical production requirements; dress rehearsals + performance nights are included.
Make Up/ Hair (Ensemble)
Follow instructions in applying make-up/ hair styles on the ensembles under guidance from Make-Up/ Hair coordinators who agree rota/ instructions
3 Trial runs & performance nights of the show
SECURITY
Work with front of house manager; monitoring car-parks, student entrances at front/ rear of changing rooms; Ensuring safety for people entering/ leaving the premises; no disruption/ loitering, etc
Instructions/ rota agreed with front of house manager/ project manager
1 /2meetings to agree rota for Performance week only; 2-3 nights required to ensure continuity of service.
MEDICAL
Check medical supplies in first aid kits; liaise with project manager in terms of known student medical conditions which may require attention; provide medical assistance during production nights both back stage/ front of house. Instructions agreed with project manager/ front of house manager.
1 meeting prior to production; 2-3 nights of production week to ensure continuity of service for patrons.
